What monuments are at Gold Beach?
Gold Beach has a few notable memorial sites. The biggest one is the British Normandy Memorial at Ver-sur-Mer. It lists the names of 22,442 service members who died. Nearby, Arromanches-les-Bains still has parts of the Mulberry Harbour project, an engineering effort from the war.
- British Normandy Memorial: Opened in 2021, this stunning architectural tribute overlooks the landing zones and serves as the primary commemorative site for British forces.
- Arromanches 360 & Mulberry Harbours: While technically infrastructure, the massive concrete caissons still visible in the water are the sector’s most prominent physical monuments.
- CSM Stan Hollis Memorial: Located in Ver-sur-Mer, this honours the only man to win a Victoria Cross on D-Day.
