What currency is used in Bolivia?

Bolivia’s official currency is the Bolivian Boliviano (BOB). It comes in banknotes of 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200, and also coins in lower values.

Over time, the Boliviano has generally kept a steady exchange rate compared to the US dollar. When you shop in markets, eat in local restaurants, or use public transport, the prices are always stated and paid in BOB. So it helps a lot to bring small denominations, like 10 and 20 BOB notes, along with coins, because street vendors, and even many taxi drivers, rarely have the exact change for a 100 or 200 BOB bill. ATMs that dispense Bolivianos are common across cities, but they are few and far between in rural areas.
