How to visit Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun)?

To go to Isla del Sol, travellers really have to use a public ferry or hire a private motorboat leaving from the port area in Copacabana, which is on Lake Titicaca. The ride usually is around 90 minutes, and it ends at either the northern harbour, called Challapampa, or the southern one, Yumani.

Most days, the boats leave Copacabana two times; in practice, one trip is in the morning, about 8:30 AM, and another comes in the early afternoon around 1:30 PM. You can buy tickets right at the little shore kiosks, right before departure. For the trip back, the boats from the island work with the same steady timetable, so it is important to plan your departure in advance; otherwise, you may end up stuck there.
