How high is Lake Titicaca above sea level?

Lake Titicaca sits up at about 3,812 metres, 12,507 feet above sea level. For many people, it can feel unreal, and the odd part is that this is also why it becomes the highest lake on Earth that large commercial ships can actually navigate on.

Since it is placed so high, when visitors come in from coastal areas or from lower elevations, there is a real chance of altitude sickness. So it is important to acclimatise well, take time to rest, keep hydrated, and not push hard with strenuous activity for your first 24 to 48 hours once you are in the region.
