A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory if you are going to Bolivian regions that are highly prone to the disease, for instance, the Amazon basin (Beni, Pando, Santa Cruz), or if you are arriving from a country where yellow fever is endemic.

Even if it is not strictly required to enter high-altitude cities like La Paz or Uyuni, immigration officials can ask for evidence of vaccination, the “Yellow Card”, when you arrive, especially if your plan also includes lowland jungle zones such as Rurrenabaque. On top of that, if you intend to continue onward from Bolivia to nearby countries like Brazil or Colombia, border officials will likely want proof of the vaccine since you were recently in Bolivia. The shot has to be given at least 10 days before your trip.
