Can tourists visit Sudochye Lake?

Tourists can go to Sudochye Lake, an extremely remote wetland complex in Karakalpakstan, though it also means you need to hire a rugged 4×4 vehicle. Usually, it shows up as a scenic break within off-road trips that head towards the Aral Sea, not really a quick detour, more like a planned sidestep.

Once a bay of the Aral Sea itself, the waterbody has kept shrinking, and now it functions as a real oasis on the Ustyurt Plateau. Internationally, it is known as an Important Bird Area (IBA), and it acts as a key resting ground for migratory birds, especially when the distances are long. People tend to remember it most for the huge congregations of pink flamingos in spring and in autumn migrations. The whole scene feels unreal, like a living painting, with those wildlife displays right in front of harsh desert escarpments and uneven bluffs.
