Best time to visit Musée d’Orsay?

Going to the Musée d’Orsay works best right when it opens in the morning, at 9:30 am, or on Thursday evenings when they run late hours. If you plan around those times, you usually run into fewer people.

If you skip the busiest periods, it is easier to see the Impressionist works without people blocking your view. Thursday nights are often the easiest. The museum is open until 9:45 pm, and the crowd tends to be older and calmer. Tuesdays, on the other hand, can feel packed. The Louvre is closed, so many visitors go to the d’Orsay instead.
