Best cafés around Place des Vosges?

Carette sits right on the Place des Vosges and is hard to miss. People know it best for rich hot chocolate and a good spread of pastries. If you want strong coffee and a nice feel nearby, check out Le Victor Hugo. Café Hugo is also worth stopping in.

  • Carette: Tucked beneath the old arcades, this place feels classic and a bit fancy. People come for the macarons and for a thick chocolat chaud that tastes deep and creamy.
  • Café Hugo: On the corner by the main square, it gives you a proper Paris brasserie vibe. The views over the central park are a real bonus.
  • Boot Café: A few streets from the square, in a small shop that used to be a cobbler’s place. They make top-notch speciality coffee, some of the best you will find around the Marais.
