Who is buried in Les Invalides?

The best-known person laid to rest at Les Invalides is Napoleon Bonaparte. His body lies in a large red quartzite coffin right under the gold dome. People often call this place France’s top military memorial.

There are also graves for other well-known French commanders and figures from history. You can find Napoleon II, along with Joseph and Jérôme, resting there as well. The site includes major 20th-century names too, such as Marshal Ferdinand Foch and Marshal Hubert Lyautey.
