Can tourists visit Charvak Reservoir year-round?
The Charvak Reservoir stays open for tourists all 365 days of the year, but what you can do shifts a lot depending on the season. It is still a go-to weekend retreat for local people, no matter whether the sky is nice or not.
In the height of summer, from June through August, the reservoir works like a huge beach destination, full of visitors who are swimming, speeding on jet skis, and paragliding above the turquoise water. In winter, the waterline goes down and the beaches shut; even so, the place turns into a scenic snow-covered lookout area, a sort of entry point to the nearby Chimgan and Amirsoy ski spots. Spring and fall are best for calm trekking around the outer edge.
