Can you hike across Isla del Sol?

Yes, hiking across Isla del Sol from north to south, via the Chincana ruins, is one of the most popular activities on the island. The classic spine path is about 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) long and typically takes three or four hours to get through it.

Note about trail access: local community disagreements have sometimes caused blockades that close the northern area of the island (Challapampa) to visitors. It is really important to confirm the present access status with tour operators in Copacabana before you plan a full across-island trek, because you might end up walking only the southern routes near Yumani.
