How to visit Moon Valley (Valle de la Luna) from La Paz?
Moon Valley is set about 10 kilometres south of central La Paz, in the Mallasa district. You can reach it pretty easily with a 30-minute private taxi, a ride-hailing app, or a shared local minivan, the trufi, leaving from the area near San Francisco Church.
Instead of a regular valley, the place feels like a strange, eroded maze made of tall clay and sandstone spires; they look like a moon scene. The park has two clearly marked walking routes that thread through the stalagmite-like formations and still keep you on a safe path. Going near late afternoon tends to give the best light for photos and also helps you avoid that sharp midday sun.
