What is sold at the Witches’ Market in La Paz?

The Witches’ Market (Mercado de las Brujas) leans heavily on traditional Aymara medicinal plants, folk remedies, charms, and ritual offerings for Pachamama, which people call Mother Earth, and one of the most talked-about items is the dried llama foetus.

It’s mostly found along Calle Linares, and in a way, you could say it feels like a physical echo of Andean cosmology. Those dried foetuses come from natural miscarriages rather than hunting, and after that they are laid beneath the foundations of new building work, so prosperity can take hold. Around the stalls, local yatiris, meaning shamans, also trade bright spell boxes and herbal infusions, meant to help invite luck for business, wellness, or romance.
