How many cable car lines are in La Paz (Mi Teleférico)?

The Mi Teleférico network today runs 10 separate, colour-coded cable car lines that connect the steep terrain of La Paz to the high plateau city of El Alto. It runs smoothly and without too much fuss. People often say it is the longest and highest urban aerial transit system in the world.

It was built to avoid the city’s well-known traffic jams, and in practice, it has changed everyday commuting. The Red, Yellow, and Silver lines are especially loved by tourists because they climb up very steeply along the canyon walls and then trace the edge of the plateau, so you get spectacular panoramic views, with almost no obstructions, of Mount Illimani plus the sprawling cityscape beneath.
