How to see the Stone Tree (Árbol de Piedra)?

Getting to the Stone Tree means doing a guided 4×4 trip across the remote Siloli Desert, and it is usually done only as part of a longer, multi-day Salar de Uyuni loop. The place is inside the protected Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve.

The rock itself stands about 7 metres tall, and it is a standout specimen of aeolian geomorphology. For thousands and thousands of years, strong wind streams loaded with sand have worn away the weaker sandstone base, but the tougher top section stayed in place. Since the base is so narrow and easily damaged, park authorities strictly forbid climbing it or even touching the monument.
