How many days do you need in Bolivia?

You usually need a minimum of 10 to 14 days to really see Bolivia’s main highlights comfortably, meaning La Paz, Salar de Uyuni, and Lake Titicaca. If you also want the Amazon basin plus a few historical cities, a three-week plan is what most people go for.

A two-week trip works well for getting used to the high altitude in La Paz, and then it leaves room for a three-day overland run across the Uyuni Salt Flats and the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve, plus a stop in Copacabana. Trying to squeeze all of that into fewer days often ends badly, mostly because severe altitude sickness can hit, and you can end up with travel fatigue from long bus rides. If you stretch it to about 21 days, you can add flights to Rurrenabaque for wildlife watching in Madidi National Park, or instead take overland routes towards Sucre and Potosí.
