Is Parc des Buttes-Chaumont hilly?

Parc des Buttes-Chaumont feels very steep. Some of the sharpest changes in height you can find in a Paris park are here. The land was made from an old limestone quarry. Because of that past use, you see high rock faces and low, narrow spots.

The uneven ground is the main thing about the park. It looks unlike places such as the Tuileries, which are flatter and kept tidy. To get around, people use paved paths that climb, plus stairs. The main spot is the Temple de la Sibylle. It sits about 50 metres above an artificial lake. This layout can be hard for some visitors. If you have serious mobility limits, or you push a heavy stroller, the long inclines may slow you down or stop you.
